Lately I've been reading the book, "Affair of the Mind." The lady who wrote it doesn't pull any punches. Here's what she says about porn:
God designed us to be controlled from the inside out.We are to be spirit-led. Pornography controls from the outside. It seeks to lead us by our flesh.
Pornography starts by using the desires of our flesh to lure us into its clutches. It seeks to bring about (eventually) the destruction of the body through abuse, venereal disease, abortion and suicide.
Through the imagination, it gains access into our souls where it affects our belief systems, seeks to bend our wills to evil, and causes devastation in our emotions. Then it closes in for the kill in our spirits. It violates our consciences, quenches our ability to know right from wrong, and shuts down our ability to talk with God. Once the spirit is dead, there is no real life in the body.We may be going through the motions of living, but no one is really home inside. |

Great book. I have been reading another new book: Every Heart Restored." - A wife's guide to healing in the wake of a husband's sexual sin. It's by Stephen Arturburn, Fred & Brenda Stoeker. It is written for the wife but I have found it very helpful to remind myself how hurtful to others my secret sin has been.
